I offer psychotherapy to adult clients who are ready to improve their lives. As an integrative clinical psychologist I tailor therapy to individuals’ needs and strengths; the foundation of my work is my supportive, respectful, and collaborative approach.
Clients often come into my office with a variety of concerns. In addition to common forms of suffering such as anxiety, depression, and stress–related disorders, I have also seen individuals confronting transitions in life. Whether the presenting issues involve end of life concerns, fertility problems, divorce, or other life changes, I have felt honored to assist my clients in navigating difficult life events.
As a health psychologist, I have also helped clients with health–related issues through the use of hypnosis, relaxation training, and cognitive–behavioral therapy. Using these approaches, I have successfully treated clients with health problems such as temporomandibular joint pain (TMJ), high blood pressure, autoimmune disorders, cardiac problems, gastric problems, sexual dysfunction, menopause–related hot flashes, and other concerns. I have also used hypnosis to successfully help people stop smoking.
An area of personal interest for me is that of spiritual growth and the interplay between spirituality and psychological functioning. Accordingly, I have worked with many individuals from various religious and spiritual traditions. In addition to helping clients with religious or spiritual concerns, I am aware that many people draw strength from their faiths and I welcome the integration of those beliefs into the psychotherapy.
Finally, I offer six–week Stress Management Programs. In both individual and group formats, this program teaches specific mind–body techniques for use in daily life. At the conclusion of this program, clients typically report that they have learned several effective tools to recognize, manage, and prevent stress from adversely affecting their lives.
